Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Mattress Review 2024: The Brand's Most Premium All-Foam Bed Tested by Experts

Our Verdict

Best for:

Sometimes when online brands update their beds, it’s a step in the wrong direction. We find that many companies cut costs to produce new lines of mattresses, sacrificing quality over quantity. This causes our team of mattress experts to be disappointed in new beds that come out — since the outdated model always reigns superior.

When Nectar announced that its beds were being upgraded, we half-expected this to be the case, but I’m pleased to report we were proven entirely wrong. To me, this is by far the best lineup of Nectar mattresses to date. They now have a sleek, modernized look and there’s a firmness option for every sleeping preference. In this review, I’ll cover everything to know about the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress.

First impressions of the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam

This new Nectar mattress ships to you for completely free, inside of a large, cardboard box — the extensive branding on the outside is a dead giveaway. When ours arrived at our office, we dragged it inside, took it out of the box, ripped off all the plastic and watched as the bed slowly inflated on our foundation. There was a slight odor to the bed post-unboxing, but we found it went away after a couple of days.

I also thought it was way too soft right out of the box, so we gave it a few nights to properly expand before testing it out. Once it was in its true form, I still observed the bed to be on the much softer side. It has a pressure-relieving profile that’s coupled with a nice body-conforming quality. This is definitely one of the softest memory foam beds I’ve tested out in quite some time — and it’s from Nectar? Inconceivable.

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress firmness and feel

What does the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam feel like?

This bed definitely has a memory foam feel, but it’s not as cut and dry as your classic Tempur-Pedic mattress. Compared to that style of bed, the Nectar Memory Foam is slightly more responsive and light. I do think it has more of a dense feel when compared to other responsive memory foam mattresses, like Layla for instance.

When you lay down on the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam, you’ll get plenty of body-conforming qualities and a lot of pressure relief for your shoulders and hips when side sleeping. If you’re more of a combination sleeper, it’s responsive enough to make switching between positions really easy — some memory foam options can be restrictive in that regard.

How firm is the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress?

As I’ve mentioned, this bed is rather soft. We’d place it between a medium and a medium-soft on our firmness scale, so it’s still accommodating for all sleep styles, with a pressure relief perk for side sleepers. I’m a combination sleeper who tends to favor my side, and this bed strikes the perfect balance of comfort for my preferences.

If you want a firmer style of Nectar bed, the Nectar Premier options both range around a medium give or take, so these options are more appropriate for accommodating all sleep styles. The Nectar Classic beds provide much more rigid sleeping surfaces, perfect for primary back and stomach sleepers. Firmness-wise, Nectar has the whole spectrum covered these days.

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress construction

Since this is a premium memory foam bed with a relatively simple construction. It’s 14” thick and comprised of the following layers:

1. On the bottom, you’ve got a dense support foam to serve as the bed’s main support system.

2. Then, you’ve got a responsive transition foam to act as a buffer between the support and comfort layers of the bed. It even has a Zoned-support feature to help keep you back aligned at night

3. Above that is the bed’s main comfort layer. In this case, it’s around 3 inches of dense, viscous memory foam.

4. Rounding everything out is a breathable cooling cover with this intricate diamond pattern. It is noticeably cool to the touch and even has an antimicrobial finish to help keep it clean over time.

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress performance

Motion isolation

We’d say this bed deadens and absorbs cross-mattress movement quite well. Since memory foam beds usually perform the best in this category for couples, it’s easy to see why it does great in this regard. It might not be as motion-deadening as something with a denser memory foam feel, but it still gets the job done — good news for light sleepers.

Edge-to-edge support

For an all-foam mattress, the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam also has some sturdy edges. I think you’ll find the bed’s hybrid counterpart to have even stronger edges, but when you apply your entire body weight to the perimeter of this mattress, there’s no apparent roll-off sensation. The mattress doesn’t really sag excessively. Instead, you should feel firmly placed along those edges at night — I doubt anyone will be falling off this bed.

Temperature

The breathable cooling cover on this mattress does present sleepers with a nice active-cooling quality. Without your own bedding, I think both Nectar Luxe mattresses are on the cooling side. Once you put all that stuff on it, I think it will perform temperature neutral. Still, it doesn’t hurt to have a cooling cover like this if you’re a hot sleeper.

Durability

For an all-foam mattress of a more premium design, I’d say this bed is plenty durable for petite, average and even some heavier people. If you’re a much heavier person, I’d definitely consider getting the hybrid version of this mattress since the coils will offer your body type more nightly support. This bed should be durable enough to last you for the next 7 to 10 years at least.

Who is the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress best for?

Although this is a quality memory foam option that could work for many sleepers, its softer profile on top might alienate some sleeper types out there. Here’s who we think will enjoy sleeping on it the most.

Sleeping position

Since this is a softer style of all-foam bed, we’d mainly recommend it for primary side sleepers or combination sleepers who want a plush mattress. If you’re a back or stomach sleeper who wants more support from your bed, this might not be the most suitable option for you. Instead, you might want to check out the Nectar Classic beds. Some back and stomach sleepers prefer softer options, so if that sounds like you, it could also be worth considering.

Body type

This all-foam mattress will be ideal for supporting two average-sized people at once. If you’re both on the bigger side, I’d recommend checking out a hybrid bed instead. For singles, you can get by on the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam if you’re a bit heavier, but just know you’ll likely get more long-term durability out of a bed with coils on the bottom for support.

If you’re interested in checking out a hybrid bed that’s suitable for heavier people, you don’t have to look far. For this case, I’d consider the Nectar Luxe Hybrid instead. It will be a bit softer than the all-foam version, but the coils will provide more support for bigger body types. This version of the Nectar Luxe mattress will also be more expensive compared to the all-foam model.

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress pricing

Size Measurements (inches) Price
Twin 38×75 inches $1,572
Twin XL 38×80 inches $2,681
Full 54×75 inches $2,147
Queen 60×80 inches $3,214
King 76×80 inches $3,764
Cal King 72×84 inches $3,767

Speaking of price, since this is the most premium all-foam mattress that Nectar as a brand currently offers, it’s not going to be their most affordable one. Its pricing isn’t egregious for the quality of bed you’re getting. After a discount is applied to the queen size, you can expect to pay right around $1,250.

Nectar usually offers cash discounts on its mattresses year round, and depending on the time of year you decide to buy, you could also score yourself a free sleep bundle with the purchase of your bed.

Trial, shipping and warranty

Nectar backs this bed with some of the most generous policies found within the online mattress space. Its beds ship to you in a box for free, and once it’s in your possession, you get a 365-night trial period to try it at home risk-free. If you happen not to like it within that time frame, you can return it for free. On the other hand, if you decide to keep it, you’re backed by a forever warranty. Just be sure to use the right foundation for the bed. Otherwise, you could void your bed’s warranty.

How does Nectar Luxe Memory Foam compare to other mattresses?

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam vs. Nectar Luxe Hybrid

These are now the top-tier mattresses within Nectar’s lineup. Both feature a very similar dense memory foam feel and noticeably cool-to-the-touch covers. The main difference between them has to do with support and firmness. The Luxe Hybrid obviously has support coils, whereas the Luxe Memory Foam has dense foam for support. This makes the Hybrid version more supportive and durable for heavier people long-term. Additionally, the Luxe Hybrid is also slightly softer at a proper medium-soft. With regard to price, the Luxe Memory Foam is the more affordable option.

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam vs. Casper Snow Hybrid

When it comes to comparing two of the most popular and premium memory foam mattresses online, there’s a lot to consider. Both feature active-cooling elements in their constructions and have a dense memory foam feel, overall. Again, the differences show up when taking a look at each bed’s specific design, firmness level and price point. The Casper Snow is a hybrid bed that has coils, while the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam is an all-foam mattress. The Casper Snow is also considerably firmer than the Luxe Memory Foam, making it the better memory foam option for back and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers looking for a more affordable option will likely prefer the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam.

The final verdict

I’m honestly taken aback by this Nectar relaunch and these new Nectar Luxe beds. Compared to the previous Nectar Premier Copper line, I think this is a great improvement for the brand. If you’re a side sleeper looking for a premium all-foam bed with a dense memory foam feel and you’re not afraid to spend up for something that’s already decently priced, this could be a step in the right direction for you.

You might like the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress if:

  • You want an all-foam mattress
  • You want an dense memory foam feel
  • You like a bed that’s softer for side sleeping
  • You want a bed with a cooling cover

You might not like the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam bed if:

  • You’re looking for a hybrid mattress
  • You prefer the feel of a neutral or latex foam mattress
  • You’re on a super strict budget

Zoned support is basically a support system within a mattress to help keep your back in a neutral alignment while you sleep. In this case, Zoned support is found within the transition layer of the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam mattress. It’s very subtle, but it will help to keep your back properly aligned at night. This gives you support under your lower back where you need it and pressure relief to the other areas of your body. If you have chronic back pain, it’s a great feature to have in your next bed.

Can you flip a Nectar mattress?

Sadly, you cannot flip any of the new Nectar mattresses. There are many beds within the online space that are double-sided, which is kinda cool — who doesn’t want two beds in one? Many options, like the Layla and Plank beds, are flippable and definitely worth your consideration.

How long do Nectar mattresses last?

Being a premium all-foam bed, the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam should last you for at least the next seven to 10 years, if not much longer. Hybrid beds are often thought to last longer than all-foam beds, but that experience could vary on a case-by-case basis. For an all-foam mattress, I’d say the Luxe Memory Foam from Nectar is plenty durable and should last the average-sized sleeper for the next several years.
