The first IND vs BAN T20I in Gwalior has changed a few things, with respect to the much-awaited IPL 2025 retentions. Mayank Yadav, who created ripples in the IPL this year for LSG after raking up speed in excess of 156 kmph, is no more an uncapped player. He played his first international match for India, where he bowled excellently well, and picked up wicket, apart from starting out with a maiden.

Mayank Yadav Set to be Retained by LSG for IPL 2025

Now, as per the IPL 2025 retention rules, an uncapped played could be retained for INR 4 Cr. With that option gone for Mayank Yadav, he could well on his way to becoming a million-dollar player, if LSG do consider to retain him. They would have to shell out at lead INR 11 Cr (USD 1.31 million), to retain his services for the next season.

In fact, an LSG insider confirmed about the move happening. “There is no way that LSG will put a rare bowler like Mayank back in auction pool. They have invested in him for past two seasons and he will certainly be one among the top three retentions,” an IPL insider privy to the developments told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

IPL Retention

Not just him, but the IND vs BAN T20I has thrown in similar situation for SRH all-rounder Nitish Reddy, who also played his first for India. The finalists from the 2024 IPL edition will have to shell out (USD 1.31 million) at least, to make him play for SRH again.

This only increases the headache for LSG and SRH, who have some great players in their ranks, as of now, who could be in contention to be retained in IPL Auction. Meanwhile, the last date to announce the IPL 2025 retention list is October 31. LSG, it looks like, could also retain Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis.
