In the last edition, Dhoni handed the captaincy to Gaikwad; we expected the previous season to be his last, but Thala will play in IPL 2025. Players that were retained by CSK in IPL 2024
Fans anticipated that Dhoni would captain CSK for IPL 2024 before the season began, leading to their retention decisions. In addition to the legendary captain, CSK retained Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ravindra Jadeja.
CSK did not release many players, as they felt there was little to change in their squad. They released only seven players while retaining 19. Ambati Rayudu was not retained, having announced his retirement from the IPL.
