Apart from forming a great team for the tournament, every IPL franchise puts their maximum efforts into building a strong support staff unit. As of every other cricket tournament, IPL teams too have separate coaches for all categories and support staff. Every participating team will appoint a bunch of support staff and a handful of coaches for the tournament and will change if not satisfied with the result. Ahead of the IPL 2025, several teams have made changes to their coaching staff. Let us check out the list of all new coaches for IPL 2025.
New IPL coaches for IPL 2025
Rahul Dravid (Rajasthan Royals)
In September 2024, Rahul Dravid was appointed as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals. Dravid, who led India to the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, has signed a multi-year deal with the Rajasthan Royals. “I am pleased to be returning to the franchise I have called ‘home’ for a number of years in the past,” Dravid said in a statement. “After the World Cup, I feel it’s the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that.”
Ricky Ponting (Punjab Kings)
For IPL 2025, Punjab Kings announced Ricky Ponting as their new head coach. Ponting will take charge of the team for the 2025 season and beyond.
“I am grateful to the Punjab Kings for presenting me with the opportunity to be the new head coach. I am excited to take up the new challenge. I had great conversations with the owners and the management about the way forward and was truly elated to see the alignment of our visions for the team,” said Ricky Ponting on his appointment.
Mahela Jayawardene (Mumbai Indians)
Former Sri Lanka cricketer Mahela Jayawardene has been appointed as head coach of the Mumbai Indians for the 2025 IPL. Jayawardene, formerly the Global Head of Cricket for the Mumbai Indians group, will take over from former South Africa international Mark Boucher for the 2025 season.
Hemang Badani (Delhi Capitals)
Former India cricketers Hemang Badani was appointed as head coach as Delhi Capitals unveiled their new coaching staff ahead of the 2025 IPL. The 47-year-old Badani, who represented India in four Tests and 40 ODIs, brings an impressive coaching background across various leagues.
