It’s official! The retention lists for all franchises are now being revealed one by one for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After months of planning and strategizing on whom to retain and whom to release, the franchises have finalized their choices. Here is the list of all retained players from each franchise for IPL 2025.
Each franchise can retain up to six players from their 2024 squad ahead of the mega auction, with a maximum of five being capped internationals (either Indian or overseas) and up to two uncapped Indian players. This retention limit allows teams to maintain a solid core as they prepare for the upcoming IPL season.
Every franchise havea budget of INR 120 crore, a 20% increase over previous year, to build their squad for the IPL 2025. Retaining players has the following financial impact: INR 18 crore is deducted for the first player, INR 14 crore for the second, INR 11 crore for the third, INR 18 crore for the fourth, and INR 14 crore for the fifth. Each uncapped Indian player retained will cost a team INR 4 crore.
