Pant turned back the clock to display his prowess with his trademark shots which included launching maximums with one-hand and down on one leg.

Rishabh Pant took on the Bangladesh bowlers in a spectacular fashion in his first Test after 630+ days. He capitalized on his bright start in the 2nd innings, managing to convert his half-century to a hundred in no time. Pant struck 11 fours and 4 sixes en route to the triple-figure mark. He made the most of the opportunity after he was dropped by Shanto on 72. Pant’s century in Chennai is his 6th Test match hundred.
Comeback greater than setback
18 months ago, no one would have thought that Pant would be able to walk again, leave alone playing a Test match. Such was the adversity faced by the southpaw that he had to learn how to walk again. His excruciating recovery saw Pant working hard in the NCA where he started from walking with the help of crutches, to slowly start walking, to running before he could gain match fitness.

Earlier in the 1st innings, Pant missed out on a well-deserved half-century as he was sent packing for 39 runs by Hasan Mahmud. However, the southpaw did not let that repeat in the 2nd innings. Coming into bat along with Shubman Gill after India’s top three batters failed, Pant held his fort to end Day 2 on a high note for India.
He commenced play on Day 3 and wasted no time in reaching his half-century. While it looked like Pant was going slow initially, he switched gears as the play neared lunch and started to deal in boundaries.
