El presidente de la Junta de Críquet de Bangladesh, Farooque Ahmed, dijo que la junta no puede garantizar la seguridad de Shakib Al Hasan para las pruebas BAN y SA.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President has made it clear that the board cannot guarantee the security which Shakib Al Hasan has asked for. The ace all-rounder had previously claimed that he would be playing his final Test match for the country in Dhaka against South Africa.
Should the Test series against South Africa commence in Bangladesh, then Shakib plans on playing his final Test match in Dhaka. But now Faruque Ahmed has made it clear that the BCB cannot provide the security arrangements that the player has asked for. Shakib had been a Member of the Parliament under the previous regime of Sheikh Hasina. But after the government fell, Shakib’s name has been included in a list of 147 persons related to a murder case.

BCB President gives Reply
“Shakib’s security is not in the board’s hand. The board can’t provide an individual with personal security. He has to take a decision on that. His security has to come from the highest level of the government,” Faruque said.
“BCB is not a security agency like the police or RAB (Rapid Action Battalion). We haven’t spoken to anyone [in the government] sobre él. Dado que su caso está fuera de los tribunales, no podemos hacer mucho al respecto”. – añadió.
The ace all-rounder is in the twilight of his career and has decided to end his red ball stint by playing at home in Dhaka against the Proteas. The BCB chief further added that he didn’t try changing Shakib’s mind in not retiring. “Of course there’s going to be nothing like it, [if he plays] su última prueba en casa. Shakib está pasando por una etapa difícil en su vida. no lo intenté [talk him out of the retirement]. Pensó que ahora era el momento adecuado para jubilarse. Respeto su decisión”.
“I am a citizen of Bangladesh, so I shouldn’t have any problem going back to Bangladesh. My concern is my safety and security in Bangladesh. My close friends and family members are concerned. I hope things are getting better. There should be a solution to it,” he concluded.
