Amenaza de bomba en Bengaluru antes de la reunión del GC de IPL y la Asamblea General Anual del BCCI

Se espera que la política de retención se publique antes del 29 de septiembre, pero es posible que la conozcamos hoy (28 de septiembre).

The IPL Governing Council (GC) meeting has been delayed. Originally scheduled for 11:30 AM on September 28, a bomb threat in Bengaluru has forced the tete-e-tete to be pushed back by 7 hours. The IPL GC consists of six members, with IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar expected to be present.

The Taj West End Hotel received the threat via email, which sent everyone, including the police, into a frenzy. However, when the authorities checked the premises, nothing dangerous or suspicious was found. Although the IPL GC was scheduled at the Four Seasons Hotel, which is about 6 kilometers away, the meeting was delayed as a precautionary measure. The BCCI AGM (Annual General Meeting) will be also held at the Four Seasons tomorrow (September 29) and even more prominent figures in Indian cricket will be present there.

IPL GC Agenda

IPL 2025 retention rules and mega auction are going to be the two main topics of the IPL GC. It is expected that franchises will be allowed to retain at least 5 players, maybe even 6. Nothing seems to be clear on the use of Right to Match (RTM) Cards. Some reports suggest they’ll be used; others refute.

The venue and date of the mega auction will be discussed as well. From mid-to-end of November, that’s the expected date of the auction. Like last year’s auction, the event is expected to take place outside India. Dubai, Doha and Saudi Arabia seem to be the three places to host the auction, but we’ll get to know the final choice once the meeting is over.

BCCI AGM talking points

There will be 18 agenda points. A BCCI representative to the ICC could be appointed. Until now, Shah has often played the role. But, since he’s leaving to become the ICC Chairman in December, someone else might be named. The fact that the AGM is taking place in BCCI President Roger Binny’s hometown could mean that he could take over that role.

One of the biggest talking points, Jay Shah’s replacement as the BCCI Secretary, isn’t on the agenda.
