Chamari Athapaththu no cree en nada “excepcional” de la India de Harmanpreet Kaur

Para llegar a las semifinales, India no sólo necesita ganar sino también asegurarse de que su tasa neta de carreras mejore.

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu is certain the Indian women’s cricket team won’t come hard at them on October 9. Needing a comprehensive victory to improve their Net Run Rate (NRR) following a 58-run thrashing at the hands of New Zealand, Team India would hope their third and last group stage (A) match in Dubai takes them to the second points table.

India will play basic cricket

Athapaththu feels that instead of going to improve their NRR, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. would just want to win the match and two more points. Having beaten Team India in the Women’s Asia Cup Final in August, Sri Lanka doesn’t fear them, and their captain is sure they’ll play some ‘basic’ cricket.

“I know the net run rate is important, but I don’t think they are trying too many things. They just want to win the game and take two points. That’s the most important thing. Because they have another game after this. So, I think they need points rather than run rate. So, I don’t think they will try so many things in the middle. They just want to play their basic cricket, and they want a win,” Athapaththu said in the pre-match press conference ahead of their Women’s T20 World Cup match.
